Eating in California can be a great experience. You can sit down for an exquisite meal in some of the most exclusive restaurants in Los Angeles, San Francsico or San Diego, alfresco with fabulous views of the Ocean or stumble upon a wonderful find in a rural town. Whether your taste is high-brow or hot-dog, or somewhere in between, you’re bound to find something to suit your palate.
Every region across the Golden State offers a food and wine event, below are some of the key events taking place in 2008:
January • January 13-15, 2008: 33rd Winter Fancy Food Show, San Diego California• January 19-20, 2008: Asian American Food Expo, Pomona, California • January 23-26, 2008: ZAP's Annual Zinfindel Festival, San Francisco, California. Zinfandel Festival is an internationally recognized series of tastings that are the premier single-varietal events in the world. With an estimated 275 wineries and 10,000 attendees. • January 24-27, 2008: Mendocino County Regional Flavour Bounty • January 26, 2008: Holtville Rib Cook-Off Extravaganza, Holtville, California • January 26, 2008: 9th Annual Mendocino Crab and Wine Days, Mendocino, California • January 29-31, 2008: Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, Sacramento, California February • February 2, 2008: 20th Annual Winter Wine and Food Fest, Sacramento, California. Benefiting the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northeastern California. The event showcases more than sixty local wineries and breweries and sixty of the areas finest restaurants. There is a silent auction throughout the event, and a live auction at the end of the evening.• February 2-March 29, 2008: Napa Valley Mustard Festival,Napa Valley, California. Celebrate the food, wine, art, and the rich, unique agricultural and cultural bounty of the Napa Valley! The Mustard Season offers a full palette of food, wine, art, entertainment, and cultural activities staged throughout the world-famous grape growing region when fields, vineyards, and hillsides are vibrant with wild mustard in bloom. • February 12-14, 2008: World Ag Expo, Tulare, California. 2nd week of Feb each year. The show is the world's largest agricultural exposition, with 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space, over 1,500 exhibitors, and over 100,000 attendees. • February 15-24, 2008 National Date Festival, Indio, California. For over 60 years, the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival has attracted families and people of all ages that enjoy the camel & ostrich races, the Nightly Musical Pageant and the history of dates as well as the many attractions and interesting exhibits unique to the Fair. • February 19-22, 2008: Symposium for Professional Wine Writers, Meadowood Napa Valley, California. • July 18-19, 2008: California Wine Festival, Santa Barbara, California. 5th Annual Reds, Whites & Blues. Santa Barbara's own big-time wine festival hits the beach again in 2008! Guests sample from over 400 great California wines and dozens of gourmet food purveyors supply delectible tidbits, artisan cheeses, craft beers, barbequed meats, and more! • July 25-27, 2008: Gilroy Garlic Festival, Gilroy - Feast on food laced with over two tons of fresh garlic, enjoy three stages of musical entertainment, shop in arts and crafts, view the great garlic cook-off and other celebrity cooking demonstrations, spend time in the children's area, visit interactive displays, soak up some glorious sunshine, and mingle with a fun bunch of garlic-loving people.

October • October 28-29, 2008 Cultural Food Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. Cultural Food Los Angeles, combines Kosherfest, All Asia Food and Expo Comida Latina. More than 5,000 national retailers, distributors, manufacturers, foodservice professionals and exhibitors flocked to the largest ethnic food and beverage trade event in the West, to see aisles of new and tasty authentic foods and beverages from more than 12 countries, such as Mexico to Korea.
