UK Visitors' Health & Safety

Medical treatment can be very expensive; there are no special arrangements for British visitors. The British Embassy and Consulates-General cannot assist you with medical expenses. You should ensure that you have comprehensive medical insurance, which includes hospital treatment and medical evacuation to the UK.

NHS Direct (0845 46 47) can provide you with advice on the vaccination requirements for the United States. You should also pay particular attention to any risks that are specific to areas in which you may be travelling. Please check travel advice for any updates on California before you travel.
